The Debut of the 2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid was at the Chicago Auto Show!
Now that the Chicago Auto Show is over, we can look back on all great news that came out during the show. One of which Hyundai had introduced its new 2020 Sonata Hybrid, boasting 686 miles of driving range and an EPA estimated 52 mpg combined fuel economy rating. This also marks the first time the Sonata Hybrid has been shown in North America. The 2020 Sonata Hybrid will come equipped with the world’s first Active Shift Control (ASC) technology and a Solar Roof System (SRS), which increases driving range. The new Sonata Hybrid is expected to go on sale this spring.
ASC technology optimizes transmission efficiency by monitoring gear shifts 500 times pr second and precisely adjusting the transmission rotation speed for faster shift times. ASC applies new control logic software to the Hybrid Control Unit (HCU), which aligns the electric motor with the rotational speeds of the engine and transmission to reduce gear shifts by 30%, which also delivers smoother gear changes and quicker shift times.
Another cool new feature in the 2020 Sonata Hybrid includes a solar-panel roof that directly charges the 12-volt and hybrid batteries and outputs 205 watts of electricity. This helps mileage increase by about 2 miles per day and helps prevent battery discharge from the infotainment system or HVAC systems when the car is off. Also adds a unique design cue to the top of the vehicle.
You will find many features from the standard Sonata’s available in the Hybrid as well. This includes SmartSense Safety Technology, Hand-Smart Trunk, Wireless Smartphone Charging Pad, Blue Link, Digital Key and as well as a more quiet cabin.
