2022 Hyundai Tucson vs 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
The last year has been a crazy one, and with all the car manufacturers coming out with new models for 2022, it looks like the craziness could continue. The team at Hyundai of Louisville thought we would help by comparing some of the new players. Starting with the 2022 Hyundai Tucson and the 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Both of these crossover SUVs have been completely redesigned for 2022. Both offer exceptional warranties and optional all-wheel drive. Let’s see what else they have in common.
2022 Hyundai Tucson Power & Handling
Hyundai gave the 2022 Tucson an impressive 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 187-horsepower. Plus, for the first time, Tucson is available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid.8-speed automatic transmission is the standard transmission. When outfitted with Hyundais HTRAC All-Wheel-Drive system, your Tucson will go anywhere. Hyundai also revamped Tucson’s suspension, which is now tuned to be sporty without being too firm or harsh. Without question, it’s our best TUCSON ever.
2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Power & Handling
The 2022 Eclipse Cross offers a 1.5L direct-injection turbo engine paired with a standard Continuously Variable Transmission and 8-speed Sport Mode. This powertrain is one of the weakest in its class, with only 152 horsepower. The suspension has been improved for a more sporty ride, making the 2022 Eclipse Cross more fun to drive than in previous years. Like the Hyundai, all-wheel drive is available.
2022 Hyundai Tucson Features & Design
The all-new 2022 TUCSON was engineered and designed with a daring new look inside and out and game-changing technology and safety. The 2022 Tucson offers excellent cargo space of 41.2 cubic feet behind the rear seat that will expand to over 80 inches with the rear seats folded down. Even the base model offers impressive technology with an 8-inch touchscreen plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The higher trim levels have an excellent dual-stacked 10.25-inch touch screen and wireless smartphone charging. The Tucson comes with Hyundai’s full SmartSense suite of active safety features. The SmartSense system comes with forward-collision avoidance, automatic high beams, and lane-keeping assist.
2022 MitsubishiEclipse Cross Features & Design
The Eclipse Cross was designed with smooth, sculpted exterior lines to create an agile, sporty feel combined with all the practicality and space of an SUV. Mitsubishi gave the 2022 Eclipse Cross 5.5 more inches, but the rear legroom is still tight. However, cargo space is decent, with a maximum of 50.1 cubic feet with all seats folded. This is 30-inches less than the Tucson but still decent. The base models offer a 7-inch touchscreen, forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, and a lane-departure warning. However, a complete package of safety options isn’t available until you reach the higher trims.
Conclusion:
As you can see, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is clearly the better choice. The Tucson offers multiple engines, more cargo room, and way more standard technology and safety features.
