The Engines that Power the Hyundai Sonata
Three potent engines are available for the 2023 Hyundai Sonata, and which one you get will depend on what trim level you go with! The first two trim levels, the SE and the SEL come standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that doles out 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque and connects to an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. The SEL Plus comes standard with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks things up a notch with 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque which also comes standard with the eight-speed automatic transmission. We highly recommend the N Line, which comes with the most powerful engine with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that kicks out 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque and pairs with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

One of the things that the Sonata is known for is its fantastic amount of features, even at the base trim level! That base trim is the SE which comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Entertainment features are provided by an 8-inch touchscreen which adds Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, a USB port, and an 8-speaker audio. You also get cloth upholstery and 16-inch alloy wheels, and some safety items such as Forward Collision Mitigation. It’s one of the best base trim levels out there right now!
What do higher trims of the Sonata offer?
The Sonata gets more impressive as you move higher up the trim ladder! We continue with the SEL trim, which comes standard with a 10.25-infotainment touchscreen, navigation, dynamic voice recognition, Highway Driving Assist, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. You will also receive 19-inch alloy wheels, aluminum pedals, and LED cabin lighting. The most luxurious of all the Sonata trim levels is the Limited trim which adds leather seating surfaces, heated/ventilated front seats, memory settings for the driver’s seat and side mirrors, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated steering wheel, a head-up display, Remote Smart Parking Assist. If you want a Sonata that can move and have fantastic performance features, then you need to check out the N Line, which has a sport suspension, sport front seats covered with Nappa leather and simulated suede, sport steering wheel, and quad exhaust system. There is also a Night Edition for the N Line, which adds 19-inch alloy wheels with a matte black finish, and a dark chrome badge.
