About Clarksville Indiana
The town of Clarksville is located in Clark County, IN. Settled along the Ohio River, the town was first founded by George Rogers Clark in 1783. The city is home to one of the largest clocks in the entire world called the Colgate Clock. The clock is actually the 7th largest in the world and it is so large that it can be seen across the river in Louisville, Kentucky. The world’s largest exposed Devonian period fossil bed is also located in Clarksville! This fossil bed includes marine and plant life from a prehistoric coral reef that are estimated to be over 386 million years old.
