2022 Hyundai Tucson Receives Perfect Score in Car Seat Safety
Any car that gets a perfect score in car seat safety is a big deal. If you have kids you will understand; keeping children safe when they travel is a major priority for all informed parents. So, the news that the 2022 Hyundai Tucson received a perfect score from Cars.com in their annual Car Seat Fit Report Card is, as we said, a big deal!
And, not common. The Tucson was one of only four vehicles to receive all A’s in Cars.com’s expert car seat safety check evaluations.
“Correct installation and proper use of car seats is critical and can help prevent child tragedies, should a crash occur,” said Brian Latouf, chief safety officer, Hyundai Motor North America. “The all-new Tucson provides an array of technology and safety features proving ideal for any family, while the recognition by Cars.com for Tucson’s exemplary performance in their Car Seat Fit Report Card evaluation reminds consumers on the importance of proper child passenger restraints and installation.”
Who is Cars.com?
Cars.com is a web-based media company based out of Chicago, Illinois. This company’s online properties assist shoppers buying new, used, or certified used vehicles. The company seeks to make automobile shopping an easier experience by arming consumers with all the knowledge and tools they need to make informed car-buying decisions. Cars.com owns and operates Cars.com, Dealer Inspire, and Dealer Rater. The main website receives over 30 million visits from shoppers each month.
What is checked when vehicles are evaluated for car seat use?
Each Car Seat Check is performed at Cars.com by a certified child-passenger safety technician who installs three types of car seats — infant, convertible and booster — into each new vehicle. The first thing that is checked is the vehicle’s Latch system. This system is a set of lower anchors and top tether anchors that is designed to make car seat installation straight forward. To earn an “A” grade, a vehicle must show it has plenty of room for both the car seat and the child without impacting the room for the driver or front passenger. Not may cars do.
What did the Safety Technicians like about the 2022 Tucson?
The Hyundai Tucson was a frontrunner in the Car Seat Check tests due to easy-access anchors and ample legroom. These features allow the Tucson to accommodate four different child passenger seat styles – Infant, Forward-facing convertible seat, Rear-facing convertible seat, and Booster seat. For the 2022 awards, Cars.com examined 51 of the newest vehicles, 14 of the most-popular two-row SUVs, in a series of examinations to determine which models performed the best.
Editor-in-Chief at Cars.com and certified child safety seat installation technician, Jenni Newman stated, “The 2022 Hyundai Tucson received a perfect car seat score based on multiple variables including plenty of room for the car seat and the child; car seat placement that didn’t impact driver or front-passenger legroom; latch and tether anchors that are easy to access and use, as well as no fit issues involving head restraint or seat contouring.”
